Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 1.69% or 0.23 points to trade at 13.50 at the close. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) added 1.56% or 0.046 points to end at 2.989 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) was up 0.86% or 0.49 points to 57.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heineken (AS:HEIN), which lost 3.68% or 3.11 points to trade at 81.33 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) declined 3.19% or 0.74 points to end at 22.44 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 3.02% or 0.110 points to 3.536.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 101 to 66 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.56% to 17.98.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 3.82% or 1.59 to $40.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 3.54% or 1.54 to hit $41.99 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.11% or 1.55 to trade at $1359.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1170, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8460.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 95.64.
