Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 1.56% or 0.215 points to trade at 14.030 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 1.49% or 0.30 points to end at 20.45 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.10% or 0.760 points to 69.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN), which lost 3.94% or 1.36 points to trade at 33.17 in late trade. Vopak (AS:VOPA) declined 1.54% or 0.62 points to end at 39.99 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) shed 1.07% or 0.265 points to 24.540.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 68 to 56 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.23% to 13.25.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 3.56% or 1.89 to $51.25 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 3.24% or 1.81 to hit $54.11 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.60% or 7.35 to trade at $1208.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.0545, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8676.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 102.10.
