Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 30.17% or 0.73 points to trade at 3.15 at the close. Heineken (AS:HEIN) added 0.56% or 0.48 points to end at 86.24 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) was up 0.24% or 0.12 points to 50.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 4.72% or 1.420 points to trade at 28.695 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) declined 3.24% or 1.010 points to end at 30.210 and Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) shed 2.70% or 1.46 points to 52.64.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 82 to 39 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 13.98% to 13.17 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.73% or 0.53 to $71.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.46% or 0.37 to hit $79.20 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1291.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1700, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8765.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 93.95.
