Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO), which rose 1.27% or 0.99 points to trade at 78.93 at the close. SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO) added 1.13% or 0.15 points to end at 13.90 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 0.98% or 0.165 points to 17.060 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 8.82% or 0.73 points to trade at 7.56 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.16% or 1.710 points to end at 77.570 and Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) shed 1.58% or 1.26 points to 78.26.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 78 to 55 and 4 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.59% to 11.45.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.53% or 0.87 to $57.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.64% or 0.40 to hit $62.97 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.77% or 9.85 to trade at $1291.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.1797, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8871.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 93.36.
