Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AMS:ATCA), which rose 5.86% or 1.03 points to trade at 18.70 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) added 3.14% or 0.72 points to end at 23.67 and Aalberts Industries (AMS:AALB) was up 2.02% or 0.56 points to 28.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vopak (AMS:VOPA), which lost 1.29% or 0.47 points to trade at 36.02 in late trade. Heineken (AMS:HEIN) declined 0.69% or 0.52 points to end at 74.73 and Aegon (AMS:AEGN) shed 0.62% or 0.033 points to 5.269.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 109 to 61 and 4 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 8.05% to 25.77 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 4.11% or 1.90 to $48.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 4.78% or 2.35 to hit $51.60 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.89% or 10.10 to trade at $1147.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.75% to 1.1272, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.7400.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.70% at 95.55.
