Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND), which rose 4.94% or 2.43 points to trade at 51.60 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 3.26% or 0.710 points to end at 22.485 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) was up 1.88% or 0.088 points to 4.765 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 1.78% or 0.79 points to trade at 43.37 in late trade. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) declined 0.71% or 0.021 points to end at 2.954 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) shed 0.55% or 0.10 points to 17.18.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 73 to 57 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 11.02% to 11.72.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 3.34% or 1.55 to $47.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 3.09% or 1.50 to hit $50.10 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.32% or 4.05 to trade at $1250.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1654, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8940.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 93.84.
