Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.03% or 2.380 points to trade at 80.870 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) added 1.22% or 0.61 points to end at 50.75 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was up 1.16% or 0.17 points to 15.21 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Randstad (AS:RAND), which lost 1.21% or 0.66 points to trade at 53.76 in late trade. Aegon (AS:AEGN) declined 0.94% or 0.045 points to end at 4.765 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 0.89% or 0.69 points to 76.91.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 72 to 52 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.24% to 13.52.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.03% or 0.98 to $49.35 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.87% or 0.96 to hit $52.38 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.37% or 4.65 to trade at $1250.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.0754, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8669.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 99.92.
