Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.82% or 2.440 points to trade at 88.960 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 1.84% or 0.17 points to end at 9.20 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 1.56% or 0.470 points to 30.630 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc), which lost 1.04% or 0.45 points to trade at 42.74 in late trade. Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) declined 0.32% or 0.18 points to end at 56.06 and Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) shed 0.32% or 0.12 points to 37.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 59 to 59 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.80% to 9.19 a new 5-year low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.44% or 0.28 to $64.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.30% or 0.21 to hit $69.47 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.70% or 9.20 to trade at $1331.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.84% to 1.2133, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8863.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 91.06.
