Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5214), which rose 8.28% or 226.0 points to trade at 2954.0 at the close. CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) added 7.29% or 153.0 points to end at 2252.0 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541) was up 5.51% or 121.0 points to 2318.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523), which lost 8.98% or 727.0 points to trade at 7373.0 in late trade. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107) declined 7.20% or 355.0 points to end at 4575.0 and Inpex Corp. (T:1605) shed 7.07% or 71.0 points to 933.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2207 to 1305 and 241 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.66 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.07% or 0.83 to $76.72 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.92% or 0.74 to hit $79.54 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 4.40 to trade at $1865.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 114.08, while EUR/JPY rose 0.09% to 129.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 95.740.
