Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Warehousing, Shipbuilding and Transportation Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.07% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sharp Corp. (T:6753), which rose 5.00% or 6.0 points to trade at 126.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) added 4.91% or 52.0 points to end at 1110.0 and Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) was up 4.42% or 14.0 points to 331.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (T:4183), which lost 1.39% or 7.0 points to trade at 496.0 in late trade. Softbank Corp. (T:9984) declined 1.31% or 87.0 points to end at 6575.0 and Nitto Denko Co (T:6988) shed 1.22% or 103.0 points to 8369.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1448 to 424 and 1 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.76% to 21.24.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.68% or 0.28 to $42.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.58% or 0.26 to hit $44.47 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.77% or 8.20 to trade at $1076.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.28% to 123.28, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 131.82.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 99.36.
