Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.22% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523), which rose 8.18% or 616.0 points to trade at 8150.0 at the close. Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519) added 3.53% or 300.0 points to end at 8790.0 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541) was up 3.32% or 84.0 points to 2615.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kuraray Co., Ltd. (T:3405), which lost 7.00% or 99.0 points to trade at 1316.0 in late trade. Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5214) declined 2.50% or 61.0 points to end at 2382.0 and NTN Corp. (T:6472) shed 2.33% or 8.0 points to 336.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2018 to 1461 and 283 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 15.18 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.25% or 0.14 to $56.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.18% or 0.11 to hit $61.56 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.26% or 3.95 to trade at $1508.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.02% to 108.64, while EUR/JPY rose 0.08% to 120.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 97.428.
