Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Services, Insurance and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kao Corp. (T:4452), which rose 3.17% or 225.0 points to trade at 7312.0 at the close. Terumo Corp. (T:4543) added 2.95% or 150.0 points to end at 5230.0 and Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202) was up 2.67% or 25.0 points to 962.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which lost 8.10% or 305.0 points to trade at 3460.0 in late trade. Toray Industries, Inc. (T:3402) declined 5.30% or 58.5 points to end at 1045.8 and Komatsu Ltd. (T:6301) shed 3.79% or 136.0 points to 3456.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2040 to 1262 and 200 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.28% to 17.72.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.52% or 0.30 to $57.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.11% or 0.07 to hit $63.31 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.85 to trade at $1292.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.03% to 111.28, while EUR/JPY rose 0.04% to 132.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 92.91.
