Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemicals, Financials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 2.25% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Italcementi (MI:ITAI), which rose 0.09% or 0.010 points to trade at 10.600 at the close. Campari (MI:CPRI) fell 0.31% or 0.03 points to end at 9.57 and Prysmian (MI:PRY) was down 0.55% or 0.12 points to 21.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which lost 9.34% or 0.0208 points to trade at 0.2020 in late trade. Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT) declined 6.35% or 0.88 points to end at 12.98 and Mediobanca (MI:MDBI) shed 5.80% or 0.380 points to 6.175.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 315 to 91 and 15 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.16% or 0.95 to $42.96 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.67% or 0.78 to hit $45.81 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.47% or 6.25 to trade at $1311.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8535.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.79% at 96.03.
