Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Financials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 1.90% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MI:SPMI), which rose 0.17% or 0.0006 points to trade at 0.3476 at the close. Ferrari NV (MI:RACE) added 0.14% or 0.05 points to end at 36.63 and Poste Italiane SpA (MI:PST) was up 0.07% or 0.0050 points to 6.7500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO), which lost 6.56% or 0.1720 points to trade at 2.4500 in late trade. Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) declined 5.21% or 0.0228 points to end at 0.4152 and Unipol (MI:UNPI) shed 4.91% or 0.134 points to 2.594.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 339 to 68 and 13 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.15% or 0.56 to $48.32 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.43% or 0.72 to hit $49.63 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.19% or 2.40 to trade at $1284.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.76% to 1.1206, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.7925.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.64% at 95.02.
