Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Financials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII), which rose 1.80% or 0.0061 points to trade at 0.3458 at the close. Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO) added 1.58% or 0.034 points to end at 2.190 and Mediaset (MI:MS) was up 1.00% or 0.036 points to 3.620 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unicredit (MI:CRDI), which lost 6.41% or 0.1800 points to trade at 2.6300 in late trade. CNH Industrial NV (MI:CNHI) declined 2.78% or 0.230 points to end at 8.040 and Intesa Sanpaolo (MI:ISP) shed 2.63% or 0.064 points to 2.366.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 181 to 154 and 24 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 2.00% or 1.06 to $51.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.70% or 0.95 to hit $54.77 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.57% or 6.55 to trade at $1165.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.0667, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8395.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 100.80.
