Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Chemicals, Travel & Leisure and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 1.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediaset SpA (MI:MS), which rose 2.05% or 0.052 points to trade at 2.592 at the close. Italgas SpA (MI:IG) added 0.51% or 0.026 points to end at 5.136 and Recordati (MI:RECI) was up 0.35% or 0.10 points to 28.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem SpA (MI:SPMI), which lost 6.55% or 0.2300 points to trade at 3.2800 in late trade. Freni Brembo SpA (MI:BRBI) declined 3.70% or 0.35 points to end at 9.11 and Unipol Gruppo Finanziario Spa (MI:UNPI) shed 3.15% or 0.112 points to 3.438.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 279 to 79 and 27 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.73% or 0.89 to $50.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.75% or 0.45 to hit $59.83 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.62% or 7.70 to trade at $1249.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.1351, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8995.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 96.567.
