Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Telecoms and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 added 1.85% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Generali (MI:GASI), which rose 7.19% or 0.7900 points to trade at 11.7800 at the close. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) added 6.28% or 0.0182 points to end at 0.3082 and Unicredit (MI:CRDI) was up 5.89% or 0.1220 points to 2.1920 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediaset (MI:MS), which lost 8.33% or 0.246 points to trade at 2.708 in late trade. CNH Industrial NV (MI:CNHI) declined 1.77% or 0.115 points to end at 6.380 and Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT) shed 1.68% or 0.24 points to 14.06.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 236 to 159 and 27 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.29% or 0.12 to $41.26 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.16% or 0.07 to hit $43.16 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.01% or 13.55 to trade at $1354.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.79% to 1.1164, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8429.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.12% at 95.61.
