Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Utilities and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 rose 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banco Bpm (MI:BAMI), which rose 2.09% or 0.056 points to trade at 2.736 at the close. UniCredit SpA (MI:CRDI) added 1.92% or 0.2900 points to end at 15.4200 and Generali (MI:GASI) was up 1.17% or 0.17 points to 14.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediaset (MI:MS), which lost 2.26% or 0.084 points to trade at 3.634 in late trade. CNH Industrial NV (MI:CNHI) declined 1.96% or 0.200 points to end at 10.030 and STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) shed 1.79% or 0.270 points to 14.840.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 211 to 134 and 20 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.23% or 0.11 to $47.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $50.47 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.55% or 6.93 to trade at $1250.07 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0917, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8456.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 98.94.
