Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) are reportedly hinting at the as-yet-unannounced Windows 12, The Verge said on Wednesday.

The publication explains that the Twitter account @leaf_hobby, which has previously exposed full specs of Intel's Xeon chips before launch, has posted details regarding Intel's Meteor Lake desktop platform. Intel reportedly notes internally that its next-gen CPUs will support Windows 12.

The tweet has since been deleted.

However, Intel shares jumped Wednesday, hitting a high of $25.92. They are currently up over 1% at $25.26, with traders believing the Microsoft 12 rumors are the cause of the rise.

Meanwhile, the website VideoCardz.com reportedly noted that Meteor Lake is anticipated to include 20 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes and support for Windows 12.

Tech giant Microsoft has not announced any plans for Windows 12, but The Verge stated there are signs the company is looking to integrate AI-powered features in future versions of Windows.

Microsoft head of consumer marketing Yusuf Mehdi told the online technology publication earlier this week that as the company starts to develop future versions of Windows, they will "think about other places where AI should play a natural role in terms of the experience."

They also noted that Mehdi's comments followed Windows chief Panos Panay's claim earlier this year at CES that AI will "reinvent how you do everything on Windows.”
