Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 2.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Autohellas (AT:AUTr), which rose 3.45% or 0.38 points to trade at 11.38 at the close. Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) added 2.94% or 0.03 points to end at 1.05 and Folli Follie (AT:HDFr) was up 2.77% or 0.49 points to 18.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr), which lost 11.10% or 0.093 points to trade at 0.745 in late trade. Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) declined 10.32% or 0.016 points to end at 0.139 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) shed 7.41% or 0.020 points to 0.250.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 25 and 9 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.48% or 5.95 to $1249.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.18% or 0.08 to hit $44.12 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.23 to trade at $45.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1315, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.7782.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.43.
