MOSCOW (Reuters) -Gazprom Export said on Thursday an arbitration court in Stockholm had ruled that Finnish company Gasum must pay Gazprom (MCX:GAZP) more than 300 million euros ($311 million) for gas supplies after failing to stick to its take-or-pay obligations.

Gasum had said on Wednesday an arbitration tribunal had ruled it was not obligated to pay Russian gas supplier Gazprom in roubles.

The Finnish company took Gazprom to arbitration in May after Gazprom demanded that Gasum paid in roubles for gas after Europe imposed sanctions on Moscow over its actions in Ukraine.

"The Arbitration tribunal, among other things, ordered Gasum to pay Gazprom Export debts of more than 300 million euros for gas supplies and in connection with non-fulfillment of a 'take or pay' obligation, as well as interest for late payment," Gazprom said in a statement on Thursday.

The Russian side said the tribunal "confirmed the legality of the suspension of gas supplies" in cases where the buyer failed to pay in roubles - President Vladimir Putin's "gas-for-roubles" scheme introduced earlier this year - and said the two parties must continue negotiations to resolve the issue for future supplies.
