Benzinga - The Ford Motor Co (NYSE: F) released a nationwide "stop shipment" order to all its carriers in the U.S. for the electric F-150 Lightning due to a potential battery issue, according to an Electrek report.

This order instructs carriers to hold F-150 Lightnings until the problem is further investigated. While it has not been identified in customer vehicles, Ford is halting the shipment of new trucks.

Ford's public relations department released a statement that the potential issue was related to the battery and the company was conducting a root cause analysis.

This issue was discovered during pre-delivery quality inspections, and Ford was not aware of any incidents in trucks already on the road.

While the company investigates, there is no stop sale.

The truck is an all-electric version of Ford's popular F-150 pickup truck. The Lightning was officially announced in May 2021 and has since generated a great deal of buzz as one of the first electric pickups from a major automaker.

The Lightning boasts impressive specs including a targeted range of up to 320 miles on a single charge along with fast charging capabilities.
