Proactive Investors - EQTEC PLC (LON:EQTE) has completed mechanical and electrical work at its Italia Market Development Centre (MDC) project in Tuscany, Italy, ahead of commercial operations commencing in early 2023.
It is described by the company as a major milestone.
The MDC is designed to use ‘waste-to-value’ solutions to produce hydrogen, biofuels, and energy.
It is EQTEC's first facility of its kind, though, in a statement, the company noted supply chain issues and recent severe weather meant that final performance testing had been delayed until the New Year.
"Work has proceeded at pace, with our team responding decisively and effectively to the tactical situation on site caused by adverse weather conditions and availability of external suppliers,” chief technical officer Yoel Alemán said.
“I am pleased that everything is now installed and commissioned and I am proud of the team's hard work in getting us to complete the construction of our first MDC in 2022.”
Alemán added: "The trying conditions have revealed the dedication and resilience of the plant's commissioning and operations team, for which we are grateful, and I am confident they will successfully operate a productive and profitable Italia MDC."
The company said it is subsequently planning to build similar MDCs in Croatia, France and the UK.
EQTEC added that it will provide further updates on the progress of the Italia MDC as it moves towards full operation.
