The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that US Senator Elizabeth Warren has resumed calls on the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate whether Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) violated regulations governing board independence at public companies.

According to the publication, Warren sent a letter to the SEC this week. She is also said to have communicated her concerns regarding the possible conflicts of interest between the private companies Elon Musk runs, such as X (formerly Twitter) and SpaceX and Tesla, asking the agency to assess whether the electric vehicle firm's board had been clear with investors about any associated risks.

In the letter, Warren reportedly said that "new evidence has emerged in recent months" that has deepened her concerns Tesla's Board "lacks independence from Mr. Musk, who uses his control over the Board for his personal benefits."

In a letter to the SEC last year, Warren is said to have raised similar concerns.
