Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Travel & Leisure and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which rose 12.06% or 0.0605 points to trade at 0.5620 at the close. UBI Banca (MI:UBI) added 5.05% or 0.1680 points to end at 3.4980 and Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) was up 4.86% or 0.224 points to 4.834 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT), which lost 6.45% or 0.0565 points to trade at 0.8200 in late trade. Tenaris (MI:TENR) declined 3.09% or 0.2950 points to end at 9.2450 and Unipol (MI:UNPI) shed 2.90% or 0.094 points to 3.142.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 210 to 197 and 18 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.12% or 0.33 to $29.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 2.73% or 0.91 to hit $32.48 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 2.36% or 29.30 to trade at $1210.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1140, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.7790.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 96.86.
