Blackbird appoints new director to aid with elevate.io rollout

Proactive Investors - Blackbird PLC (LON:BIRD) has announced the appointment of 888 Holdings (LON:888) director Anne de Kerckhove to its board.

Set to serve as a senior independent non-executive director and audit committee chair, de Kerckhove will join Blackbird on March 6, the video platform operator said on Monday.

“The company has an impressive track record of video creation and editing with some of the biggest brands in media and entertainment,” de Kerckhove commented.

“Now, the launch of elevate.io, aimed at the creator economy, brings a significant and exciting new growth market to the business.”

Blackbird initially released the browser-based content creation tool, elevate.io, earlier this year, with this aimed at the growing creator economy.

Funds have since been raised to aid its rollout, with Blackbird explaining de Kerckhove’s appointment also would help.

“Anne has a wealth of relevant and valuable experience,” chairman Andrew Bentley said.

“We very much look forward to working with her, particularly as we move into this next chapter of product development in the creator economy.”

“Her wealth [...] will be of immense value as we launch our new direct-to-creator platform, elevate.io, as well as operating our award-winning professional platform, Blackbird,” chief executive Ian McDonough added.

Anne de Kerckhove also serves at the likes of 888 Holdings, 7Digital Group and Eagle Eye Solutions, having worked as chief executive of Freespee and sat on the board of other technology firms, Videology and Inspired Gaming.
