Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Banking and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 1.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Enea SA (WA:ENAE), which rose 1.55% or 0.17 points to trade at 11.17 at the close. Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) added 1.03% or 0.58 points to end at 56.90 and Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) was up 0.30% or 0.02 points to 6.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM), which lost 5.31% or 3.66 points to trade at 65.28 in late trade. ING Bank Śląski SA (WA:INGP) declined 4.01% or 4.80 points to end at 115.00 and Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) shed 3.56% or 1.99 points to 53.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 313 to 182 and 169 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.69% or 0.22 to $32.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 2.68% or 0.89 to hit $34.16 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 1.53% or 18.70 to trade at $1241.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.04% to 4.3773, while USD/PLN fell 0.07% to 3.9725.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 97.41.
