Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Financials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 1.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which rose 1.96% or 0.0105 points to trade at 0.5460 at the close. Saipem (MI:SPMI) added 1.57% or 0.0055 points to end at 0.3555 and Finmeccanica (MI:SIFI) was up 0.53% or 0.050 points to 9.495 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Salvatore Ferragamo (MI:SFER), which lost 4.43% or 0.95 points to trade at 20.50 in late trade. Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO) declined 4.22% or 0.3400 points to end at 7.7100 and Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) shed 3.79% or 0.193 points to 4.902.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 282 to 125 and 18 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 4.64% or 1.55 to $31.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 3.92% or 1.36 to hit $33.33 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 1.26% or 15.30 to trade at $1225.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1022, while EUR/GBP rose 0.78% to 0.7855.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 97.43.
