Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 0.90% or 0.55 points to trade at 61.33 at the close. Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) added 0.85% or 0.29 points to end at 34.86 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was up 0.68% or 0.30 points to 44.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vopak (AS:VOPA), which lost 1.40% or 0.57 points to trade at 40.62 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 1.15% or 2.50 points to end at 214.60 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) shed 1.10% or 0.091 points to 8.164.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 78 to 49 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.70% to 13.70.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.24% or 0.13 to $53.33 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $56.05 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.58% or 7.15 to trade at $1218.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.0581, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.8669.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 101.70.
