Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MI:FCHA), which rose 4.58% or 0.330 points to trade at 7.535 at the close. Buzzi Unicem (MI:BZU) added 4.42% or 0.88 points to end at 20.79 and Saipem (MI:SPMI) was up 3.89% or 0.0165 points to 0.4408 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII), which lost 7.91% or 0.0249 points to trade at 0.2900 in late trade. Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO) declined 7.44% or 0.148 points to end at 1.840 and Mediobanca (MI:MDBI) shed 4.24% or 0.285 points to 6.440.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 249 to 152 and 29 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.52% or 0.27 to $51.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.95% or 0.52 to hit $54.98 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.67% or 7.95 to trade at $1169.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.71% to 1.0739, while EUR/GBP rose 0.88% to 0.8456.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.42% at 100.33.
