Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Basic Resources and Food sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Alpha Bank (AT:ACBr), which rose 11.11% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.090 at the close. Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) added 5.88% or 0.060 points to end at 1.080 and Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) was up 5.71% or 0.08 points to 1.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which lost 8.11% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.102 in late trade. Intrakat (AT:INCr) declined 7.53% or 0.035 points to end at 0.465 and Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) shed 4.12% or 0.08 points to 1.86.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 51 to 33 and 7 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.54% or 6.10 to $1133.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.51% or 1.14 to hit $44.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.10% or 0.55 to trade at $49.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.70% to 1.1237, while EUR/GBP fell 0.64% to 0.7346.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 95.86.
