Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare, Trading and Investment Trust sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.60% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC (CM:TANG), which rose 16.94% or 10.50 points to trade at 72.50 at the close. Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL) added 12.06% or 2.40 points to end at 22.30 and Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) was up 11.11% or 0.100 points to 1.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Agstar PLC (CM:AGST), which lost 6.06% or 0.40 points to trade at 6.20 in late trade. Pegasus Hotels of Ceylon PLC (CM:PEG) declined 5.68% or 2.10 points to end at 34.90 and Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) shed 5.56% or 5.00 points to 85.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 141 to 55 and 43 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.83% or 0.35 to $41.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.95% or 0.42 to hit $43.87 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.35 to trade at $1367.75 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.34% to 191.090, while USD/LKR fell 0.05% to 145.570.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 95.60.
