Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Wholesale & Retail Trade and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 1.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Netas Telekomunikasyon AS (IS:NETAS), which rose 11.48% or 1.40 points to trade at 13.60 at the close. Afyon Cimento (IS:AFYON) added 11.21% or 2.50 points to end at 24.80 and AK Enerji (IS:AKENR) was up 9.57% or 0.090 points to 1.030 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vestel Beyaz Esya (IS:VESBE), which lost 4.74% or 0.600 points to trade at 12.050 in late trade. Koza Altin (IS:KOZAL) declined 3.94% or 1.15 points to end at 28.05 and Anadolu Efes (IS:AEFES) shed 3.89% or 0.95 points to 23.45.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 315 to 89 and 12 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 2.03% or 23.00 to $1108.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.00% or 0.51 to hit $50.70 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.76% or 0.43 to trade at $56.66 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 1.80% to 2.7004, while EUR/TRY rose 2.03% to 2.9317.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 97.99.
