Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite lost 1.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 11.16% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.259 at the close. Sarantiseg (AT:SRSr) added 2.48% or 0.30 points to end at 12.40 and Fourlis Hld (AT:FRLr) was up 2.30% or 0.130 points to 5.770 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which lost 6.49% or 0.017 points to trade at 0.245 in late trade. Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr) declined 5.36% or 0.006 points to end at 0.106 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) shed 4.57% or 0.017 points to 0.355.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 73 to 28 and 12 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.29% or 3.62 to $1248.48 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.21% or 0.58 to hit $48.47 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 0.49 to trade at $50.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1633, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8914.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 94.02.
