PARIS (Reuters) - French Prime Minister Manuel Valls plans to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a trip to Germany in 10 days, he told reporters on Thursday, adding that the European Union needed to bring an end to austerity.
"I am going myself to Germany to meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sept. 21 and 22," Valls said. "I will meet with Germany's leaders.
"I will go to Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart to meet businessmen. There are lots of French companies investing over there."
He added: "Growth is too weak in Europe. We need to stop austerity policies and do everything to encourage investment."
