Investing.com – Peru equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Banking & Financials and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General gained 2.63% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Sider (LM:SID), which rose 10.00% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.165 at the close. Buenaventura (LM:BVN) added 6.67% or 0.340 points to end at 5.440 and Southern Copper Corp (LM:SPC) was up 6.47% or 1.55 points to 25.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Relapasa (LM:REL), which lost 4.41% or 0.006 points to trade at 0.130 in late trade. Panoro (LM:PML) declined 1.79% or 0.002 points to end at 0.110 and Grana Y Monter (LM:GRA) shed 1.56% or 0.040 points to 2.520.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 17 to 6 and 10 ended unchanged on the Lima Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.10% or 0.38 to $34.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.76% or 0.28 to hit $37.09 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.82% or 10.10 to trade at $1240.90 a troy ounce.
USD/PEN was down 0.70% to 3.4915, while EUR/PEN fell 0.40% to 3.8178.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 98.20.
