Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 2.37% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were TNT Express (AS:TNTE), which rose 0.10% or 0.008 points to trade at 7.737 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) fell 0.35% or 0.04 points to end at 12.90 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) was down 0.49% or 0.37 points to 74.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 7.03% or 0.23 points to trade at 3.05 in late trade. ASML Holding (AS:ASML) declined 4.55% or 3.42 points to end at 71.75 and Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) shed 4.37% or 1.25 points to 27.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 158 to 20 and 3 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 14.08% to 34.66 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 6.44% or 2.01 to $29.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 6.43% or 1.99 to hit $28.89 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.84% or 19.80 to trade at $1093.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.04% to 1.0978, while EUR/GBP rose 2.02% to 0.7692.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 98.53.
