Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr), which rose 6.43% or 0.045 points to trade at 0.745 at the close. Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) added 6.28% or 0.06 points to end at 0.98 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 5.47% or 0.04 points to 0.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Euro Reliance (AT:EREr), which lost 10.00% or 0.15 points to trade at 1.35 in late trade. Elval (AT:VAL) declined 8.05% or 0.12 points to end at 1.37 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) shed 7.55% or 0.024 points to 0.294.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 48 to 38 and 8 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.86% or 9.30 to $1074.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 4.78% or 1.91 to hit $38.06 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 4.03% or 1.74 to trade at $41.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.0847, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.7202.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 98.64.
