Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 2.26% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN), which rose 2.74% or 0.18 points to trade at 6.76 at the close. Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) added 1.31% or 0.50 points to end at 38.79 and Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) was up 0.73% or 0.21 points to 29.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which lost 6.64% or 0.85 points to trade at 11.95 in late trade. Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) declined 5.55% or 3.29 points to end at 55.97 and Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) shed 5.15% or 1.21 points to 22.29.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 323 to 200 and 109 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.49% or 0.79 to $52.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.76% or 0.43 to hit $56.73 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.82% or 9.60 to trade at $1157.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.31% to 4.2154, while USD/PLN rose 1.19% to 3.8471.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.75% at 97.15.
