Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.74% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.63% or 0.575 points to trade at 22.400 at the close. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) added 2.08% or 0.72 points to end at 35.65 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) was up 1.62% or 0.64 points to 39.73 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which lost 1.27% or 0.20 points to trade at 15.15 in late trade. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) declined 0.86% or 0.32 points to end at 36.78 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 0.52% or 0.20 points to 37.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 81 to 48 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.51% to 10.60.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 2.15% or 1.11 to $50.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.13% or 0.64 to hit $56.15 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.51% or 6.54 to trade at $1278.26 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.64% to 1.1742, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.8852.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 93.42.
