Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Media, Energy and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.07% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP), which rose 2.45% or 2.09 points to trade at 87.25 at the close. Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) added 2.12% or 8.00 points to end at 386.00 and Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) was up 1.85% or 0.47 points to 25.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP), which lost 4.42% or 0.26 points to trade at 5.62 in late trade. Synthos SA (WA:SNS) declined 2.24% or 0.11 points to end at 4.79 and Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) shed 2.13% or 1.32 points to 60.58.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 282 to 268 and 116 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.04% or 1.71 to $57.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 3.32% or 2.08 to hit $64.81 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.33% or 3.90 to trade at $1190.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.26% to 3.9989, while USD/PLN fell 0.51% to 3.6997.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.68% at 97.57.
