Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 1.30% or 0.71 points to trade at 55.25 at the close. Randstad (AS:RAND) added 0.92% or 0.49 points to end at 53.58 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) was up 0.81% or 1.80 points to 224.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 2.00% or 0.153 points to trade at 7.499 in late trade. ASML Holding (AS:ASML) declined 0.90% or 1.10 points to end at 121.70 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 0.63% or 0.50 points to 79.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 60 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.46% to 17.03 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.36% or 0.19 to $53.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $56.02 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 1.41% or 17.65 to trade at $1271.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.0611, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8503.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 100.62.
