Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Footwear & Textile, Power & Energy and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.74% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Serendib Engineering Group PLC (CM:IDL), which rose 18.18% or 1.00 points to trade at 6.50 at the close. Hikkaduwa Beach Resort Ltd (CM:CITH) added 12.61% or 1.40 points to end at 12.50 and Kelsey Developments PLC (CM:KDL) was up 12.42% or 5.50 points to 49.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kotmale Holdings PLC (CM:LAMB), which lost 16.25% or 19.50 points to trade at 100.50 in late trade. Horana Plantations PLC (CM:HOPL) declined 13.51% or 2.50 points to end at 16.00 and Commercial Development Company PLC (CM:COMD) shed 13.22% or 9.90 points to 65.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 116 to 57 and 58 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.49% or 0.72 to $47.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.55% or 0.79 to hit $50.17 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.10% or 1.25 to trade at $1245.25 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.12% to 189.270, while USD/LKR rose 0.05% to 151.820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 99.66.
