Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 5.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Athens Medical (AT:AMCr), which rose 1.01% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.800 at the close. Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) added 0.21% or 0.01 points to end at 4.68 and Elgeka (AT:ELGr) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 0.255 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr), which lost 13.47% or 0.064 points to trade at 0.411 in late trade. Alpha Bank (AT:ACBr) declined 12.99% or 0.043 points to end at 0.288 and Attica Bank (AT:BOAr) shed 11.27% or 0.008 points to 0.063.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 6 and 3 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.09% or 1.10 to $1181.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.17% or 0.71 to hit $60.06 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.68 to trade at $64.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.23% to 1.1285, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.7241.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 94.77.
