Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which rose 5.82% or 51.00 points to trade at 927.50 at the close. Weir Group PLC (LON:WEIR) added 5.50% or 63.00 points to end at 1209.00 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) was up 4.71% or 8.70 points to 193.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which lost 2.33% or 71.00 points to trade at 2980.00 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 2.28% or 24.00 points to end at 1029.00 and Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) shed 1.79% or 56.50 points to 3106.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1204 to 796 and 473 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.57% or 7.20 to $1281.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.17% or 0.56 to hit $48.28 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.39 to trade at $49.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.56% to 1.4483, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.7829.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 94.34.
