Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Basic Resources and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite fell 0.82% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Creta Plastics (AT:PLAKR), which rose 10.00% or 0.53 points to trade at 5.83 at the close. Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr) added 7.21% or 0.04 points to end at 0.58 and Grivalia Properties REIC (AT:GRIr) was up 6.14% or 0.45 points to 7.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr), which lost 15.63% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.14 in late trade. Alpha Bank (AT:ACBr) declined 15.32% or 0.009 points to end at 0.052 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) shed 12.50% or 0.002 points to 0.014.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 59 to 43 and 6 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.20% or 2.10 to $1071.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.21% or 0.52 to hit $42.35 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.40% or 0.65 to trade at $45.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.0607, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.7031.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 99.96.
