Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 3.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which rose 6.02% or 0.40 points to trade at 7.08 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa) added 5.53% or 1.20 points to end at 22.82 and ASML Holding (AMS:ASML) was up 5.40% or 4.15 points to 81.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AMS:GTO), which lost 12.27% or 9.06 points to trade at 64.79 in late trade. Vopak (AMS:VOPA) declined 0.51% or 0.19 points to end at 36.83 and TNT Express (AMS:TNTE) shed 0.04% or 0.003 points to 7.528.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 185 to 34 and 2 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 15.20% to 29.71.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 8.45% or 3.26 to $41.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 7.59% or 3.27 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.18% or 2.00 to trade at $1122.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.87% to 1.1217, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.7286.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.71% at 95.98.
