Investing.com - The rate of unemployment in the U.S. last month rose unexpectedly, official data showed on Friday.

In a report, the U.S. Department of Labor said the unemployment rate rose to a seasonally adjusted 4.8%, from 4.7% in the preceding month .

Analysts had expected the U.S. unemployment rate to remain unchanged at 4.7% last month.
