Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Hotels and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388), which rose 9.95% or 1.00 points to trade at 11.05 at the close. Asia Optical Co Inc (TW:3019) added 9.89% or 6.40 points to end at 71.10 and Ching Feng Home Fashions Co Ltd (TW:9935) was up 9.87% or 1.15 points to 12.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512), which lost 6.28% or 0.70 points to trade at 10.45 in late trade. Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229) declined 6.09% or 1.10 points to end at 16.95 and Charoen Pokphand Enterprise Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:1215) shed 4.83% or 3.50 points to 68.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 406 to 343 and 128 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.40% or 0.20 to $49.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.42% or 0.22 to hit $52.44 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.10% or 1.33 to trade at $1267.07 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.21% to 30.232, while TWD/CNY fell 0.45% to 0.2224.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.31.
