Investment Strategy

The Fund aims to provide a return over the long term, through the combination of capital growth and income. It looks to outperform the FTSE All-Share Index over rolling 3-year periods, after the deduction of charges. The Fund is actively managed, and invests at least 90% of its assets in shares of companies listed on the London Stock Exchange; predominantly companies domiciled in the UK, or which have significant UK business operations.

Biography Richard Colwell is a portfolio manager and Head of UK Equities at Columbia Threadneedle. He manages the Threadneedle UK Growth & Income Fund, Threadneedle UK Equity Income Fund and the Threadneedle UK Equity Alpha Income Fund. He also co-manages the Threadneedle Monthly Extra Income Fund and has research responsibility across all sectors. Before joining the company, Richard ran high alpha UK equity portfolios at Aviva Investors. He has also held portfolio management roles at Credit Suisse and Schroders and worked at the Bank of England. Richard has a degree in Banking, Insurance & Finance from the University of Bangor. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Society of the UK as well as the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

Biography Chris White, joined Premier Asset Management in November 2010 to manage UK income funds and has over 25 years of investment management experience. Chris manages the Premier Income, Premier Monthly Income and Premier UK Growth Funds and is also co-fund manager of the Premier Optimum Income Fund. Previously, he was with Threadneedle for 7 years as a Director of UK Income Funds. Chris started his career with Robson Rhodes and has also worked for Charterhouse Tilney and Legg Mason as an investment manager. He holds an honours degree in Economics and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and the CFA.

Biography Taylor started his career as a UK equity analyst in 1981 within the investment department of Guardian Royal Exchange Assurance. In 1987, he joined Hill Samuel Investment Management and in 1991 was appointed head of UK equities at Royal Insurance Asset Management. He joined Threadneedle in 1995. In 1999, he was appointed Joint Head of Pan European equities and in June 2002 was appointed Head of Equities.

Biography Neil joined Standard Life Investments in October 2011, initially placed in the Credit team to gain experience of the asset class and our collaborative approach; he transitioned to the Multi Asset Investment Team in 2012. Neil is co-manager of Global Focused Strategies Fund and is a member of the GARS portfolio construction team and contributes to the asset allocation of other portfolios managed within the Multi-Asset Team. He also sits on the Strategic Investment Group. Before joining Standard Life Investments Neil was Head of UK Equities at Ignis, heading a 9-strong team managing £8bn. Prior to that he spent 4 years at Citi on the Pan European Equities sales desk, where he was responsible for a large number of accounts, with widely differing investment styles. At Threadneedle his strong fundamental analytical abilities were recognized with his promotion to Head of Pan European Research. His career encompasses over 20 years on the buy-side and four years on the sell-side, giving a broad and deep understanding of capital markets and the investment community. In total Neil has six years investment experience at Standard Life Investments with 33 years’ industry experience. He holds a MA(Hons) Modern History and Politics from the University of Edinburgh.
